Five Key Weight Loss Principles

The key to successful weight watching is a healthy diet and lifestyle, combined with exercise. Focus on nourishment and what you get from your meals rather than the perfect diet. Follow these five key principles for every meal and you’ll give your body what it needs while cutting down on what you don’t need. Add consistent exercise to this approach and you’ll be in great shape in no time.

1. Eat veggies, veggies and more veggies - eat as many vegetables as you can. They are low in calories and full of nutrients and fiber.

Did you know - One super sized soda probably has three times as many calories as eight cups of veggies.

2. Drink no or low calorie drinks - water is your best choice when you need to quench your thirst.

Did you know - by cutting out sodas, energy drinks, juices, coffee, beer and wine, you can save hundreds of calories a day. This can add up to a few pounds over a couple of months.

3. Eat more fruit - fruit is good for you, despite some of the rumors the fad diets have spread. In fact, you should eat fruit everyday, for every snack of with every meal you can.

4. Eat more good fats - Many of us try to avoid them which is not a good idea. Avocados, nuts and olives are full of fats that your body needs. Eat other foods that contain these good fats in place of butter, sweets and fried foods.

5. Eat a good breakfast everyday - your body needs the fuel a good breakfast will deliver the first thing in the morning. Then eat small portions at regular intervals throughout the day.

Did you know - skipping breakfast is a recipe for overeating with late night snacks (I’m guilty on this one)
