How Hoodia Helped Me Keep My Mouth Shut
Posted by Lury Share This
Losing a major amount of weight did not come easy for me but I finally did it after 2 false starts.
I finally succeeded and lost about 80 lbs, but why did my first two attempts fail?
Probably because I tried to follow a predetermined weight loss program that ‘technically’ would have worked but, unfortunately it was me who couldn’t see it through. What I eventually found out was a slight adjustment to the routine brought me overwhelming long term success. Here are the failed attempts.
The Diet Plan
The diet structure (similar to the Atkins) was a high protein, low carb diet plan which was meant to eliminate carbohydrate intake for the first 2 weeks. You eat mainly protein and fats which are supposed to ‘recalibrate’ your blood sugar.
The Goal
This extreme reduction of carbohydrates eliminates the super highs and lows in your glucose level caused mainly by eating the wrong types of carbs (bread, potatoes, rice, sugary cereals etc…)
The Problem
The first two weeks of a no carbohydrate diet is torture for anyone who is used to eating a lot of ‘carbs’. You’re very hungry much of your waking hours because you’re ‘weaning off’ the carbs; consequently your blood sugar is low which triggers distracting sometimes painful hunger pangs.
This is where I failed. Twice. After about 3-4 days, I was back to eating fries and hamburgers with the bun. Back to square one.
Had I gotten through the two weeks the diet should have cured my cravings ‘automatically’. But I never made it that far.
The Solution
After a thorough pity party for myself, I decided, after about 2 months to give it another shot. I’m female 230 lbs - 5′ 6′ and did NOT want to gain any more weight!
Knowing where I went wrong was the key. If I could get through the initial two weeks of the diet I would have a fighting chance.
The weight loss program I chose this time was the South Beach Diet. It is a modified carb diet which stresses eating only good carbs. Still the first 2 weeks are critical.
This is where the hoodia came in.
After researching hoodia and realizing it was a safe, natural appetite suppressant I decided I’d add it to the 2 week carb weaning phase. Maybe I wouldn’t be so hungry?
I took 3000 mg daily for few days before I officially started the diet, this let my body get used to the hoodia.
After 3 days of taking the hoodia my normal cravings DISAPPEARED. I would take one 1000 mg capsule 30 min prior to eating a meal and that was it. I was amazed that I would eat ONLY about one-quarter of my usual serving.
I’d taken diet pills before but hoodia isn’t really a diet pill. You feel none of the speedy, jitteriness you do with most other diet pills.
I breezed through the two week carb purg phase which led seamlessly into the next longer phase of the diet. Slowly the weight came off.
Better yet, it was easy. I kept with the hoodia, but backed off to about 1000 mg total per day for the second month.
Find What Works For You
No one ever really told me about systematically combining an appetite suppressant like hoodia with the South beach diet process. Typically diet systems are promoted exclusively ie… Atkins, South Beach, Cookie Diet, Hoodia etc…
My major concern was safety and of course, weight loss results, that’s why I used the hoodia as an appetite suppressant, and still do. All the other appetite suppressants sounded too dangerous.
So give this idea a try; There’s a link for information on pure hoodia (DON’T buy imitation hoodia!) at the bottom of the page.
