Interval Training And Fat Loss

If you are wondering whether interval training and fat loss go hand and hand, you are in the right place, because in this article I will answer your questions about it.
For those of you that don’t know, interval training is a cardiovascular exercise, mostly done by sprinting, in which you intensely increase speed for a short period of time.
There has been a war about this subject among the fitness gurus for some time now; however, most of them tend to side with the more traditional form of cardio, in which you exercise at a slower, but consistent pace for a longer period of time. This type of cardio is referred to as aerobic exercise, interval training is referred to as anaerobic exercise.
Something that you need to know is that in order for your body to burn fat to the best of it’s ability, it needs oxygen. Aerobic exercise, exercising at a consistent pace, for a longer period of time, usually 30 minutes, provides your body with the oxygen it needs to complete this task. Anaerobic exercise, on the other hand, requires a greater amount of oxygen that cannot be carried to your cells in proportionate amounts for the fat burning process to continue.
Although you do burn more calories this way, it isn’t the most efficient exercise to do if your goal is to lose fat because when you start breathing heavy, it means that you are lacking enough oxygen to carry out the process, so it starts burning carbohydrates, rather than fat.
And contrary to popular beliefs, carbohydrates can be effective in losing fat because they help propel your metabolism.
So, the moral of the story is, stay away from interval training if you REALLY want to lose the fat.
