WASHINGTON: A new study shows that all slimming diets are in the end equally ineffective.
According to a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, a typical diet helps people lose 6 percent of their weight – 10 to 15 pounds – and most who lose weight gain it all back within five years. Weight loss drugs were also found to be equally ineffective in the long run.
According to one report, the news is bad for those who had hoped that a gentler approach to dieting might be more effective over the long term.
Diets that recommended fewer calories worked better. However, even a small, temporary weight loss is beneficial for health.
